Cage Location

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO PUT MY CAGE?

The cage is your bird’s castle.  Choosing the right location of that castle is important. A location where your bird can be adjacent to family activities, but not in the center is excellent. Your bird will be most comfortable against a wall, so he can watch the “happenings” and not have to worry that someone might be sneaking up behind him. Place the cage where he will not be surprised when someone walks up, in other words don’t block his view of someone scaring him, because he didn’t know they were there.

Be sure the cage is away from a window where direct sun rays could overheat him, because after all he can’t escape them. Although your bird would love to see out the window, be sure that this window is totally protected from hot rays, or drafts.

Kitchens can be a potential danger to your bird. He could breathe deadly fumes, such as those that come off of nonstick cookware. Why take the chance.

A family room would be excellent, since that is where the family frequently hangs out. Or maybe a home office where you might spend the day. Don’t be afraid to move your bird around either by using 2 cages, or a play stand.

And now that you have the right cage and it is in a good location, be sure to start choosing toys and perches for your new bird.

TOYS ARE ESSENTIAL/NOT AN OPTION TO YOUR BIRD’S MENTAL AND  PHYSICAL WELL-BEING. THEY WILL GIVE HIM SOMETHING TO DO WITH BOTH HIS MIND AND HIS BODY, KEEP HIM FIT, AND STAVE OFF BOREDOM. A BORED BIRD IS AT HIGH RISK FOR BEHAVIORAL AND HEALTH PROBLEMS.
